Leia Disney Bound
Updated: Jan 5, 2020
The Walt Disney Parks rules and regulations are rather stricter for adult costumes than they are for children. In fact, people over the age of 14 years old are not allowed to enter the Walt Disney World parks with a costume. For this matter, Disney fans have invented "disney boudning." Disney bounding is using every day clothes inspired from ones favorite Disney characters. For this look I got directly inspired by the famous Star Wars characters for the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge preview.
The Edited Cut:
Everyone who has seen Star Wars knows who Leia is. We all quickly love her and her sassy attitude. I wanted to create a disney bound of her classic white look. I found this dress from a local shop in Brownsville, Texas called In Style Wear. I love how simple yet eye catching it is. The open back creates a picture perfect effect. I also wanted to keep the shoes simple and chose to do simple silver heels. I did want to do the classic Leia buns but with a modern and sparkly twists. I went ahead and did a half up- half down hair do with glitter on the hair. This was definitely out of my comfort zone but very nice!
The Scenery and Poses:
We all know that Leia is the true queen of the Millennium Falcon. For that reason, I knew that the environment needed to be there, both outside and inside. I used small details of the falcon to capture the whole essence of the character and the ride. It was an amazing experience. For the poses I know that they had to be sassy yet classy to match her personality yet keep my personality in the picture. For that reason I did a lot of side poses and used my hands to the side to capture the sweet yet sassy character.
I found myself adding a lot of color to this shoot. I normally am adding light but since I took the pictures right when the light was at its brightest, I was taking a lot of time matching the colors and balancing that aspect out.
This project was made possible in collaboration with Jorge Martinez who was the photographer for this shoot. He always has the patience and the time to work with me as I get my pose, outfits, and makeup together.
